Walking Tour of Westport and pub lunch in Shebeen Pub with Guiness pint pouring lesson
One of the very best ways to see Westport is to go on a walking tour of the area. When you do this you can see all of the historic sites and learn more about them as you walk around the town. If you go on one of these tours you should expect it to last around 90 minutes and this will take you through the town and to the Holy Trinity church, historical buildings and into the Georgian Mall.
The walking tour of Westport is very interesting and informative and is not at all rushed, so you will not have to feel as though you are keeping up with people who are on it. You will be able to ask questions at any point which is ideal if you are a history fan. After going on the walking tour it’s a good idea to go somewhere for refreshments and the Shebeen Pub is perfect for this.
The pub got the name ‘shebeen’ as it used to serve people drinks after hours, hence the nickname which is derived from an Irish slang term. A pub lunch here is very reasonably priced and you should expect to pay around 24 Euros per person for a full meal and drinks. While there try a Guinness pouring lesson from one of the bar staff. This was a lot of fun and although it can be hard to start with you will soon get the hang of it. You will even get to drink the Guinness you poured – just to test it out!
