4 Days on Honeymoon in Munster?

What would you do if you had 4 days on honeymoon in Munster? Personally, I’d stay put and enjoy the serenity of the honeymoon venue, however, there are plenty of things to do for a couple in love on their first few days of wedded bliss! There are the usual spots to hit like the Ring of Kerry and Dingle – nothing against them, we love them too but here are a few of our favourite quieter spots in the Munster region of Ireland…….

Wild Atlantic Way
This route runs from West Cork for 2,500kms around the Irish Coastline up to County Donegal so only a small bit is possible in 4 days. However, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Clare have some amazing scenic coastal views and you could freshen up your skin after those wedding celebrations with the Irish mist on your face with a walk along the Wild Atlantic Way. There is plenty of misty rain forecast this week so no shortage there!

Cooking
So now that you are married, will you be preparing delicious meals for each other? Start off by taking a half day course in the reknowned Ballymaloe Cookery School. Choose from a wide variety of courses including  an Italian food lesson learning how to make your own panzerotti & calzone!

Gougane Barra
This has to be one of the romantic spots in Ireland. The Forest Park is perfect for a walk and a picnic. St Finbarr, who established the church here was the son of a metalworker from Connaught and a slave girl. He founded the monastery here in the 6th Century.

Mizen Head
A visit to Ireland’s most South Westerly point might be on the cards. The point is reached by climbing down 99 steps and crossing a pedestrian bridge, high above the Roaringwater Bay. Stunning views!

So you’ve spent a day or two chilling out and now you want to get out into the fresh air? Ballyhoura is on your doorstep, you can enjoy the mountain biking trails, hiking in the mountains or some of the heritage sites in the area like Lough Gur or Doneraile Park.
